Rennes - March 28, 2024 - An emblematic player in the French seafood market, Maison Reynaud is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and has chosen the Klarys solution to support its digital transformation plan and enter a new key stage in its development.
A pioneering leader in sustainable and responsible seafood products
Founded in 1924 in the heart of Les Halles de Paris, Maison Reynaud is the French specialist in the distribution of quality seafood products to catering professionals and traditional fishmongers.
In 2009, Maison Reynaud decided to join forces with the OSO® group, artisanal producers who have developed the world's first organic Gambas farm in northwest Madagascar, to offer its customers seafood products that respect people and nature.
Through this major strategic shift, ahead of its time, Maison Reynaud has become a unique model of integration from the sea to the plate, committed to a sustainable and responsible approach.
Protecting the environment and biodiversity is central to the Group's business model. Capitalizing on a 4,000-hectare ecological sanctuary and a carbon sink in Madagascar, the Group is involved in a number of solidarity initiatives, including the provision of schooling for 900 pupils from primary school up to the CAP (vocational training certificate) in cooking, the creation of health centers with maternity services, and drinking water supply systems for local communities.
Maison Reynaud achieves consolidated sales of around 300 million euros for 35,000 tonnes of seafood products sold, and employs almost 1,300 people in France, Madagascar and Mauritius.
A Transformation program combining tradition and innovation
The success of Maison Reynaud is based on the company's constant attention to its core values, the quality of its products, and its mastery of the entire marketing cycle, from production to delivery to retailers' doors.
"Maintaining excellence means constantly listening to our customers, optimizing our organization and constantly innovating, while remaining true to our values," say brothers Gauthier and Mathias ISMAIL, directors of Maison Reynaud.
"The health crisis period was a unique opportunity for us to rethink our operating model, prepare our organizations for changing consumer patterns and integrate more added value into our product and service offering."
Accompanied by world leaders in strategy and organization consulting, Maison Reynaud has conceptualized a Transformation program aimed at strengthening the group's leadership in its markets through three areas of reflection:
- Integrating maximum added value into products and services,
- Operational excellence throughout the value chain, by overhauling processes and methods, and unifying them across all group entities to benefit from synergy effects,
- Digitization of all physical and document flows.
"Digitization and the ability to access reliable data are essential for modernizing processes, improving operational efficiency and enhancing service quality. These innovations will also enable us to better meet our requirements in terms of traceability and health safety, while constantly striving to minimize the ecological footprint of our activities. To meet these objectives, we have decided to equip ourselves with state-of-the-art solutions, particularly for managing our logistics and purchasing performance", emphasize brothers Gauthier and Mathias ISMAIL.
Following an extensive audit of market solutions carried out in 2023, Maison Reynaud chose the Klarys solution, the first commerce platform adapted to the specific challenges of fresh food.
Technology for performance, transparency and sustainability
"Our choice of Klarys was guided by several factors: firstly, their expertise in the fresh food sector, as well as their perfect understanding of the specifics and needs of our business. Klarys also has a very accurate vision of our current market and how it needs to evolve, particularly in terms of modernization, digitalization and compliance with regulatory requirements. These elements, as well as their ability to propose a collaborative approach to change management with our teams, were decisive", explains Thierry D'ANDREA, General Manager in charge of Systems at Maison Reynaud.
Maison Reynaud expects many benefits from the deployment of Klarys, particularly in terms of optimizing purchasing and logistics costs, as well as redirecting their teams' time towards high value-added tasks.
Klarys will enable Maison Reynaud to simplify, centralize and automate its purchasing, by offering real-time visibility of its suppliers' offers (stocks, prices, origins, etc.). All buyers in the Group's various entities will benefit from unified, automated processes, with a single, standardized product repository, ensuring complete security of supply and greater responsiveness to market volatility.
"One of Klarys' great strengths lies in the dynamic exchange of reliable data between our suppliers and our buyers - and in the automatic integration of this data into our ERP system, SAP," emphasizes Thierry D'ANDREA.
As part of the project, Klarys also provides suppliers with a simple, intuitive platform for proposing new products, tracking orders and managing invoicing. When a supplier receives an order, they can update the actual data of what they are going to ship - including actual quantities and/or weight, as well as traceability information - and generate SSCC labels, delivery notes, sanitary labels and invoices in just a few clicks. This information is then automatically sent back to Maison Reynaud and synchronized in SAP.
This provides buyers with much more reliable data flows, and enables them to view the adjustment and status of each order in real time, in order to optimize incoming goods. This integration into the ERP system enables better inventory management, traceability and invoice reconciliation. The aim: to improve operational efficiency and facilitate team work.
Gauthier ISMAIL concludes: "The fresh food industry is both traditional and complex, with processes that are quite heterogeneous from one player to another. This digitalization project is an essential step in our development, and will enable Maison Reynaud to prepare for tomorrow's challenges and the conquest of new markets."
