Klarys, CO₂ compensated company

Klarys, CO₂ compensated company

Aware of the climate emergency and the impact of our activities on the environment, we have decided to calculate in detail our carbon footprint for the year 2022 and to set up compensation actions.

Thanks to ClimatePartner, we were able to calculate our CO₂ emissions over the year 2022 and we offset them by supporting a climate protection project that contributes to global carbon neutrality.

The entire process can be verified with the "CO₂ compensated" label.

CO2 compensated

Calculation of CO₂ emissions over the year 2022

We collected our company's CO₂ emissions in partnership with ClimatePartner and calculated our Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF): Scope 1 & 2 (heating, energy), and part of Scope 3 (business travel, commuting and teleworking of our employees).

We calculated that Klarys' emissions had accounted for 57.65 tonnes of CO₂ in 2022. We therefore decided to offset up to 63.41 tonnes of CO₂ (including a safety margin of 10%).

The equivalent of 75 economy flights from London to New York.

Offsetting CO₂ emissions through a carbon contribution project

We decided to offset all our CO₂ emissions in the year 2022 by supporting the following project. That is why our company is CO₂ compensated.

Mataven forest
Forest protection Mataven, Colombia

This forest protection project is the largest REDD+ project in Colombia.

This initiative protects 1,150,200 hectares of tropical forests, safeguarding its biodiversity. It provides education, healthcare, sanitation, food security, nutrition, and further social benefits for 16,000 indigenous people. The project works hand-in-hand with the communities to constantly inform and train them, improve living conditions and promote sustainable economic growth.

The project follows a holistic approach to make a lasting change in the behavior towards sustainable practices, forest protection, and conservation. The different scopes of the project focus on reducing the vulnerability of indigenous territory through strengthening governance through the communities, improving surveillance and control of the territory, as well as the system of communication and transportation. Besides, the project helps improve food self-sufficiency for six different ethnic groups.

All ClimatePartner projects are certified according to the highest international standards and independent bodies monitor the implementation of the project on site.
